The MDR Leipzig Radio Children's Choir (MDR Kinderchor) was founded in 1948. It’s the only children’s choir of the German Broadcasting Cooperation (ARD) with its home in Leipzig. . They have stayed incredibly young – when taking into account the average age of the members – for nearly 65 years, in which time it has written a large piece of radio history. The choir gives regular concerts throughout Germany, the schedule also includes radio and television productions and CD recordings. International tours to Australia, Switzerland, Italy and the USA have taken the young singers to concerts, school projects, workshops and competitions. Twice they have been awarded a prize at the Days of International Choir Music in Verona, which testifies to the impressively high standards of musical training at MDR.
